Mami, let me clean the floor!

Who says toddlers are only up for messing all things around the house? They can be helpful in doing house chores too.

My one-year-and-a-half is keen at helping me. That I can boast, especially when it comes to cleaning. Whenever I pull out our mop, he'll grab it and clean the floor to his delight. He also likes to roll away the fleece from our bed, before lying down and play. Oh, what a nice sight.

When I'm in the kitchen cooking, he likes to hold the laddle and look at the simmering dish, aside from having a taste of whatever is on top of the stove. He even reminds me to turn on the exhaust fan (which I tend to forget) while cooking. When I wash the dishes, he likes to do it too, though this is something impossible right now. So, I let him by my side and play with the cooking utensils (the safe ones, of course) and casseroles.

Well, it sure makes my work get done a little longer, but it brings joy to my heart to see my son do all these. In the child development paradigm, this is called the stage of imitation and curiosity. So, let him be, even if it means more mess than order, coz it is his way of discovering how things go and work.
